As November approaches, we would like to take a moment to thank our caregivers during National Caregiver Appreciation Month. Although providing care for disabled family members or older loved ones is rewarding, it can bring about its own set of challenges. Often times the work that caregivers do on a daily basis is overlooked and undervalued. Caregivers may find themselves experiencing social, emotional, or financial stress. It is Adult Family Care’s goal to encourage our caregivers to put as much effort into caring for themselves as they do for their loved ones.
This year, the Adult Family Care program of Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services is excited to provide each of our caregivers with a First Aid Kit for Caregiver Appreciation Month. We are passionate about providing our caregivers with the tools they need to succeed. In November, each caregiver will receive a first aid kit, a first aid guide, as well as caregiver health and wellness tips.
Do you want to recognize a caregiver that you know?
Here are some ways to show your appreciation:
- Provide a day of respite care
- Be a shoulder to lean on
- Listen
- Help with small things around the house
- Cook a meal
- Say, “Thank You!”
