The challenges of being a family caregiver– and how Adult Family Care can help—was the focus of a new Public Service Announcement (PSA) that was released in July.
Adult Family Care (AFC) is a non-profit program that helps hundreds of people across the Greater Boston Area provide in-home care for friends or family. Funded by MassHealth, the program provides training, compensation, and ongoing support for caregivers helping MassHealth-eligible adults who cannot live alone because they need daily assistance.
The 50-second clip opens with Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services (SCES) Outreach Director Nathan Lamb discussing his aunt’s experience as a family caregiver. The clip also features AFC Program Director Jeanne Leyden, who explains the basics of the program and who it can help.
AFC is a program of SCES, which is the longest-running elder services agency in eastern Massachusetts. The PSA was produced in partnership with Cambridge Community Television, a nationally recognized community media center.
